  1. Well stated and I couldn’t agree more. The “original intent” in that wonderful document we know as our Constitution is that it put the trust with the people…, We The People. If we forsake that trust all will be lost. The primary reason that this “great experiment” came into existence was because of the perceived tyranny of the British Crown and religious persecution. That was the formative influence and lesson that guided those early, young patriots. They knew that the empowerment of a too powerful centralized government would slowly and with rapacious abandon accumulate power unto itself until it become the master, no longer the servant representative of the people.

I believe it is not mere coincidence that the first two amendments to the Constitution that lead off our Bill of Rights are first; an amendment guaranteeing the basic right of free speech and protecting us from the establishment of a state-sponsored religious affiliation and second; an amendment intended to be the last resort tool for guaranteeing that very sacrosanct right.

To quote from the ruling of the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit issued on March 9th, 2007…”We conclude that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. That right existed prior to the formation of the new government under the Constitution and was premised on the private use of arms for activities such as hunting, and self-defense, the latter being understood as resistance to either private lawlessness or the depredations of a tyrannical government.”

So in this opinion, I would suggest, the court in it’s wisdom has with those last six words came full circle some 230+ years later to confirm the basic reasoning that this nation was founded in the first place. And guess what? The liberal lefties, whom I have ever since the Not-So-Great-Society referred to as demonRATs…the disloyal opposition, are all for the empowerment of an all-powerful national government.
The clock is ticking upon this constitutional republic and it’s longevity. We must purge ourselves of these fools at the ballot box in NO-vember 2012 or risk loosing all.
