On Friday morning, Sen. Harry Reid told America why he may shut down the government: to save Planned Parenthood.
“I’m saying to them what all newspapers and pundits are saying around the country, how could they close up the government on an issue dealing with women’s health,” Reid responded. When Cordes noted Republicans said the issue was really spending cuts, the Nevada Democrat said, “well anyone at that meeting last night at the White House — and that’s not many people — they know the number that was given to us by the Speaker was agreed upon the only thing left standing was Planned Parenthood.”
The far-left, extremist progressive arm of the Democrat party is forcing an ideological battle that will crush military families. Often living paycheck to paycheck, missing just one payday will put added strain on families already stressed by multiple, long deployments to one of three wars the Obama administration is juggling.
Sen. Reid calls the sticking point a “women’s health issue”. According to Planned Parenthood’s own report, it performs almost a third of all the abortions in the United States. That same report shows that “97.6 percent of pregnant women going to Planned Parenthood are sold abortions while less than 2.4 percent of pregnant women received non-abortion services including adoption and prenatal care”.
While title 10 is one consideration for the Democrats feigned concern on women’s health issues, the real reason is money. Over $300 million per year is given to Planned Parenthood, a $1 Billion company. Much of that money is funneled back into the coffers of Democrat candidates. If Planned Parenthood gets cut off, so does one source of tax payer funding of Democrat candidates.
Roe v. Wade gave women the right to an abortion. Harry Reid and his group of extreme left-wingers are planning to hurt military families so that they can continue funneling tax payer money to a business that is obviously focused on one thing – abortions.
