Senator John Thune Drops Bid for 2012 Presidency Run

SD Senator John Thune announced today that he is dropping out of a possible run for President in 2012, creating  a deeper quandary for the old guard GOP, in my opinion. Thune was a solid conservative that also has Teaparty appeal in many states, expecially throughout the West/Midwest regions. While many big name Republican leaders encouraged Thune to run for President in 2012, I felt from the start that Mr. Thune was just not comfortable with this situation. His speech at CPAC was very well-written, and tough on all the right issues, yet I saw a man that just wasn’t tough enough to muster up the enthusiasm to rally and energize the nation.  Today’s announcement didn’t catch many off guard, but will surely leave many supporters wondering what would have happened if he had given it a shot. How would he have affected the primaries? Now we shall never know.  Senator Thune released the following statement today:

“For months now, my wife Kimberley and I have received encouragement from family, friends, colleagues, and supporters from across South Dakota and the country to run for the presidency of the United States. We have appreciated hearing their concerns about where the country is headed and their hopes for a new direction.

During this time, Kimberley and I and our two daughters have given a great deal of thought to how we might best serve South Dakota and our nation. That process has involved lots of prayer.

Along the way, we have been reminded of the importance of being in the arena, of being in the fight. And make no mistake that during this period of fiscal crisis and economic uncertainty there is a fight for the future direction of America. There is a battle to be waged over what kind of country we are going to leave our children and grandchildren and that battle is happening now in Washington, not two years from now. So at this time, I feel that I am best positioned to fight for America’s future here in the trenches of the United States Senate.

I want to thank those who have encouraged us and prayed for us during the past several months. We are forever grateful for all the support.”

John and Kimberley

Senator Thune is rumored to be eyeing up a Senate leadership position when/if the republicans take over the senate in 2012 as expected. This was brought about by Sen John Kyle (R-AZ) announcing his retirement earlier this month. The reshuffling will probably involve  John Cornyn (TX) and Lamar Alexander (Tenn), and certainly looks to have played a part in Thune’s decision today.

Senator Thune has solid conservative ratings across the board, with the America Conservative Union giving him a rating of 100 in 2006 and 2010.

Senator Thune’s  ACU lifetime rating  is 88.97.

Senator Thune is a strong supporter  of both current wars, cutting spending within our Federal Government, and voted against all forms of the Democrat’s proposed Socialised Healthcare bills. After being called one of the biggest earmark offenders in the Senate, Thune supported the current 2 year ban on earmarks. He correctly calls himself a “fiscal conservative.” One knock on Thune, used by leftist media misinformation spreaders was that Thune’s voting for the Federal bailouts would hurt him too badly for him to be a successful candidate for President in 2012. That wasn’t necessarily true to those who truly understand the DC climate at the time of those first bailouts.People were lied to and bullied for those votes, with probably less than half the truth being told to the voters.  If we listen to the leftist media misfits, we  don’t have a viable candidate for President in 2012. Boy are they in for a surprise!

GodSpeed Senator Thune, to you and your family. Keep up the good work in the U.S. Senate.

Left Wingers to Finance Wisconsin 14 – CDN Fights Back

One of my readers forwarded an email to me asking if there was something Conservatives could do to counter a destructive move by the liberals.

Mr. Editor,

My Daughter is signed up on some left wing-extremist web site and sent this to me asking for money. She thinks that because I was in a union that I would support this mess. I was in a union because I had no choice. If I wanted that job, I had to pay union dues. Scott Walker is giving workers the individual right to elect to not have union dues come out of their paychecks and go to causes they don’t support. I wish there had been a Governor Walker in my working years.

Here’s the email, is there a way to counter this?

Over the weekend, I sent an email asking you to support the 14 Wisconsin Democratic Senators who left the state to prevent Republicans from passing a bill that strips workers of their collective bargaining rights. Now, I’m emailing to ask you again.

Please, donate $14 to the Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee, $1 for each of the heroic Senators.

There are 19 Republicans in the state Senate, but 20 Senators are needed for a quorum to pass the bill. If even one Democratic Senator returns to Wisconsin, s/he will be rounded up by the state police, brought to the state Capitol, and the bill will pass. If that happens, tens of thousands of workers will lose their rights.

Senate Republicans are pressuring the 14 Democrats by passing bills that require the presence of only 17 Senators. Further, groups funded by Wall Street are running television ads attacking the Dems.

The strain on these Democrats is immense. We must serve as a counterweight by providing tangible support. That’s why at Daily Kos we’ve added the Wisconsin State Senate Democratic Committee to the Orange to Blue 2012 page. The sole purpose of this committee is to support the Democratic nominee in each of Wisconsin’s 33 state Senate districts.

Please, donate $14 to the Wisconsin Senate Democrats, $1 for each of the heroic Democratic Senators. Your contribution will make an immediate, substantive impact on a huge political fight.

In solidarity,
Chris Bowers
Campaign Director, Daily Kos

YES! There is something we can do about it. It’s time to .. Give ’em Hell!! I haven’t received a response to phone calls and email to understand where exactly we should send the money, so I have included the emails and office addresses of every one of the grandest 19!

We can send $5 dollars to each of the Republican Senators. Spend $20 dollars of your own money and pick four Senators to send it to. Post a comment as to whom you supported so we support them all. As the founder and editor-in-chief of, I will personally contribute $40. First comment will show who I am sending money to. Will you join me?

Florida Politics: A Storm is Brewing

I would like to start out my, “This Week in Florida Politics” article here, by saying thank you to my State Representative Rachel Bergen. (fl-56) I had written to every politician in the State of Florida expressing my concerns stemming from the attempt to illegally bypass Governor Scott’s decision to put the breaks on the High Speed Rail plan from Tampa to Orlando. Rep. Bergen surprised me today with a phone call to address my concerns. Sure was comforting to see our elected officials responding to the very people they are supposed to represent today. Thank you again Ms. Bergen  We discussed a couple of issues today,  mainly talking about the Rail plan. She is in agreement with Governor Scott, (and myself)  that in these uncertain economic times this is just too much to put onto the backs of Florida taxpayers. We discussed Senator Bill Nelson telling the country that he will meet with Ray LaHood , the U. S. Secretary of Transportation, and a few lawyers to see what they can do to get around our Governor’s decision. Feds or no Feds, lawyers and other assorted Florida politicians and crony-capitalists looking for payback for promises they made to get elected will not be putting this kind of debt onto Floridians, period. I can not give you a quote from my Senator Bill Nelson, as they are apparently way to important to talk to the little people who pay their salaries. Nelson also doesn’t respond to correspondence from us little people. I can’t count the number of times he and his staff have ignored my letters. Likewise with Cathy Castor, another one of my so-called representatives who are scheming against the will of the people to put us into debt for decades with this rail plan. Castor is also heavily backed by assorted Unions as almost all Democrats are today, as we see by the stats below from  Special thanks to those folks for keeping track of interesting data like this. As dear old Gramps always said, “Follow the Money, Daniel.”

              2009 – 2010 Campaign Cash- Industries*

Industry Total Indivs PACs
Lawyers/Law Firms $113,060 $82,775 $30,285
Health Professionals $76,700 $21,700 $55,000
Building Trade Unions $34,000 $0 $34,000
Hospitals/Nursing Homes $33,830 $18,330 $15,500
Public Sector Unions $32,000 $0 $32,000

         2009- 2010  Top 5 Contributers*

Contributor Total Indivs PACs
American Hospital Assn $11,680 $1,680 $10,000
American Assn for Justice $10,000 $0 $10,000
Florida Police Benevolent Assn $10,000 $0 $10,000
Intl Brotherhood of Electrical Workers $10,000 $0 $10,000
Laborers Union $10,000 $0 $10,000

Those are a lot of  favors owed by Ms. Castor there, and if she thinks she can pay them off with a multi-billion dollar rail plan, no matter the cost to the taxpayers of Florida, she’s got another thing coming. Yes sir, I see a big storm brewing in the near future for the Florida region. Ms. Castor is so sure she will be able to pay off future donors with this Rail plan, that she even held a press conference today. Just like in Wisconsin, Castor’s “press conference” was even attended by nasty Democratic operatives with signs such as “Impeach Scott, and other types of ugliness. Impeach Scott, for doing what we elected him to do? I don’t think so . Grow up people. You are an embarrassment to the  true meaning of a grassroots movement and Democracy. Yes Sir, a big storm is surely brewing in Central Florida. If you want to know what other area politicians are behind this scheme, you don’t have to look far.  Also at this pep rally against the people of Florida , were what they call “candidates.” explains it like this:

“Castor and several candidates for the mayor and city council supporting high-speed rail were present. Opponents, in the minority of those attending the rally, mingled among those who favor it.” (emphasis mine)

Let me get this straight here. deems it important enough to point out that the opponents at this unannounced press conference were in the minority. Mr. Ted Jackovics of the Tampa Tribune, shows his lack of any hint of the ability to write  an unbiased report right there, not to mention his lack of journalistic integrity he shows in pushing one agenda or the other here in Tampa, time after time after time. FYI Ted, the only people showing up there were people paid by them to show support for this scheme or the privileged few who were called ahead of time. Otherwise, just how did they happen to show up with those nasty hate-signs? I saw no announcement of this press conference. I for one, am sick of reading this shameful misinformation from our supposed reporters today. Do you think there might have been some opponents to the plan show up, if this had been announced?

Of course there would have been, we voted no just last year on this scheme, and I would be one of the people telling you where to stuff your fantasy here. I call it a fantasy, because no businessman in his right mind thinks this will not be a big black hole sucking down taxpayers dollars for decades to come. Castor, Bill Nelson, Mayor Iorio and assorted corrupto-crats are trying to convince us otherwise with another phony “plan” announced today. This was at the same press conference where they made very vague statements that do not prove anything to me about how this rail plan is supposed to make money in the end. Of course if you listen to the fantasies of Sen.  Bill Nelson, Rep.Cathy Castor and other assorted Liberal elitists, Obamacare will insure millions of people for free, lower the national debt and give Seniors better healthcare by taking 500 billion dollars of funding away from them. This is a nasty shell game these Florida/Tampa corrupto-crats are playing to try to cement future campaign donations for the 2012 elections and beyond. Yes Siree, there’s a storm brewing down here in Florida.. Here is another tidbit from today:

“Our goal over the next day or two will be to put a written proposal in front of Gov. Scott that he can review,” she said. ” •Put the proposal before Scott to assure him that a private company that wins a bid to build and operate the system would be responsible for any possible construction cost overruns, revenue shortfalls, or financial obligations for repayments of federal grants should the project at any point fail; and last but not least is a good one: ‘Private firms have indicated they would make up the difference between the federal grant and the ultimate cost of construction, as well operate the high-speed rail line with revenue that would not involve government subsidies.”

First of all we demand to know a few particulars here Ms. Castor, like just which ” private firms” are involved here? Exactly who will be in charge of  project oversight after they get their foot in the door for this project?  How many of these jobs will actually be given to Floridians ? How about your vaunted “transparency” the Democrats like to preach about today?  Sure seems to be a lot of secret deals going on here already, and the people of Florida need to demand some answers before this even gets started. How about a scheduled set of meetings from Tampa to Orlando to hear what the real people think about this deal before you submit your “Plan” to Governor Scott? Will it be deemed a criminal offense to give any jobs for this project to the Democrats friends for votes, Illegal Immigrants?  The fact is, that the people have already told you they don’t want this high speed rail. Your initial projected numbers about the financial viability of this project were already proven to be a bunch of hot air. I say once they get their foot in the door with this misguided bait and switch,  that it will be just like Amtrak. Remember Amtrak?  That was private at one time too. Today?  Billions of taxpayer dollars are being stolen to prop up that so-called “private venture,” that has also been plagued with fraud, corruption, and malfeasance. And Amtrak runs up and down the heavily populated Northeast, unlike sparsely populated Central Florida.

My take on this whole scheme? If the people do not speak up, and Governor Scott believes this Amtrak2 plan for Florida, we will be facing a state sales tax within 2 years here in Florida. They may call it something else, but one way or the other these big spending Democrats and their corrupto-crat pals have one agenda today: Tax the working folks as much as they can, any way they can, as has been proven throughout American history. Here is a telling question for all the Democrats and others involved in this rail scheme: ” With Democrats constantly screaming for the rich businessman to pay more in taxes today, just what businessmen are lined up with your plan here? How can these Democrats climb into bed with these evil capitalists that they bash every single day today? Are we supposed to believe that these anonymous business firms here are willing to lose billions of dollars just to snuggle up to this bunch of  Tampa politicians? Oh wait, since Senator Bill Nelson is wheeling and dealing on this deal up in Washington DC, which lobbyists is he in bed with up there, and what have they been promised?  Talk about strange bed-fellows teaming up for the high-speed rail love affair here. Every businessman I have ever met, is in business to make money. Where did you find these people who are supposedly all lined up to be happily taxed more, and are willing to take the heavy losses that are sure to come with this plan?

We are being told here today folks, that whether we want this high speed rail running through the heart of Florida or not, the corrupto-crats are going to do it anyway. I sure hope Governor Scott doesn’t fall for the Amtrak2 bait and switch of these mathematically challenged politicians from here in Tampa. I am betting that the Businessman we elected as Governor, Rick Scott will see through this gimmickry. As in the picture above, the clouds are rolling in here, over Central Florida. Next up? Governor Scott’s budget cuts. Is that thunder I hear?

Planned Parenthood, the Parasite

According to the propagandists of the radical left, the GOP launched a “war on women” last week when the House overwhelmingly agreed to yank Planned Parenthood’s federal funding. Democrats are accusing their political rivals of everything from forcing poor women to suffer, to attempting to shut the organization down. Of course, these are hollow lies designed to herd uninformed voters onto the liberal bandwagon, and are—like most Democratic arguments—easily disproved.

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America, commonly shortened to Planned Parenthood, is a group of eighty-five independent affiliates that provide a variety of services to women, including contraception, STD testing and treatment, and abortions. It’s also an extremely political organization, lobbying against parental consent laws and pharmacists’ refusal clauses (both of which are protected by the Tenth Amendment), and supporting Democratic candidates in elections. Planned Parenthood was a strong supporter of candidate Obama in 2008.

What’s wrong with that? They’re a private organization and can do what they want, right? Er, not exactly. Although Planned Parenthood receives about one-fourth of its funding from private donors, it receives a whopping one-third from the federal government; the organization raked in $363.2 million from the taxpayers in the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Federal law prohibits federal funding of abortions (with some exceptions), but Planned Parenthood openly calls for the removal of this reasonable restriction.

To put it bluntly, Planned Parenthood is a leech, a parasitic organization that feeds on Americans’ paychecks. Certainly, some citizens approve of the organization’s activities, and they are free to support it with their own money, but it is unacceptable, even immoral, to force those who do not approve to finance activities that might, in some cases, violate their religious convictions.

Isn’t there something in the First Amendment about that?

Some conservative activists oppose the very existence of Planned Parenthood simply because of the role it plays in providing abortions; it performed nearly 325,000 in 2008 alone. However, that’s not the point. Abortion debate aside, a controversial organization like Planned Parenthood should not receive a full third of its billion-dollar budget from taxpayers. For that matter, it shouldn’t receive any federal funding at all. Period. If Planned Parenthood can’t operate on the same playing field as every other private organization in the U.S. that doesn’t get an enormous check from Uncle Sam every year, then perhaps its activities aren’t quite as popular as its public relations department likes to pretend.

Far from waging a war against women, the Republicans in Congress are battling wasteful spending and defending workers’ right to decide how to spend or invest their earnings. In these difficult economic times, it’s downright absurd to argue that Person A should be forced to pay for Person B’s condoms or morning-after pills, which is exactly what Democrats are doing.

The only fair criticism of the move to defund Planned Parenthood is that it focuses on a lone vampire-like organization and ignores a multitude of others that are feeding at the public trough, as freshman Representative Justin Amash (R-MI) pointed out, following the vote. He would prefer to defund all organizations that provide abortions, and is not alone; survey respondents consistently indicate that they would prefer the government didn’t pay for abortions, regardless of their personal feelings about the procedure.

Last week’s vote is a tiny step in the right direction, when it comes to reducing the outrageous amount of the public’s money that the federal government doles out to various organizations and causes, but such steps are necessary if this nation is ever to be called “free” again.

2012 Presidential Profile: Donald Trump

When people talk about Donald Trump running for President in 2012, we often hear a question made famous by another politician last year. The question is “Are you serious?”  Donald trump  for President ? Are you serious?  The politician also known as The S. F. Queen of Liberalism, one Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, also made this question quite famous in 2010. A reporter had  asked her to state where in the U.S. Constitution did it give Congress the authority to force people to buy healthcare? She replied several times, “Are you serious?”   Well we were quite serious Nancy, as you witnessed  the complete thrashing of your Liberal Democratic party  in the 2010 elections. When we try to evaluate, or score Mr. Trump in Conservative values today, we come up with a handful of air. Anyone who has read my previous columns will see that I am pretty much a hard-line Constitutional Conservative. When someone tells me Trump might make a good Republican President today, I am left with that now famous answer phrased as a question.  “Are you people serious?”

I can hear all the Trump band-wagon jumpers sighing right now about how I am being unfair, or that I am uninformed about the “New Republican Donald Trump,” blah blah blah. While I do state some heavy opinions in my coulmns here at CDN, I also state my reasons and any pertinent facts behind my statements without bias. They call that being a straight-shooter where I come from, and as far as today’s politics goes, we see way too little of this, from what I see today. I was one of the first people to start my twitter profile with, “I am not P/C,  (politically correct) as that is the message control mainly used by decades of Democratic Party Propaganda. Let’s get back to trying to decipher just how “conservative”  Donald Trump is today. I was going to title this article the Two Faces of Donald Trump originally, and below you will see why.

Here on the left is Donald in 1999                Here on the right is Donald in 2011

Abortion I,m pro-choice he said 1999    At CPAC he stated that he is now Pro-Life.

Healthcare Called for single-payer in book  Says Obamacare needs to be repealed

Gay Marriage Took no stance on gay marriage  Recently said he not in favor of gay marriage

“R” or “D” or “I” In 1999 he went from ‘R” to “I” to run for Pres. Switched to ‘D” in 2001. (a 2 year span- 3 parties)       Republican since 1999  (supposedly)

Favorability rating in 1999 was 33%   Favorability rating in  2011  is 29%

To be fair, some people do an about face in life’s philosophy at different ages. I consider some of these changes in ideology to be nothing more than the acceptance of  basic reality, as related to the evolving of our society at the time of change. What I find hard to believe is that a life-long capitalist to the tenth degree, such as Donald Trump, can go from one extreme ideology to another in short spans of his life. The abortion stance is all-telling here. Pro- abortion to pro- life shows a lack of solid core values, in my opinion. Supporting Obama’s Socialist Medicine, even at one point going so far as to want a single-payer healthcare system, shows us an anti-Capitalist ideology at it roots. This coming to us from a billionaire capitalist shows us the elitist attitude that there is one set of rules for the working class, and yet another set for the elite, just like most of the Tyrants in DC today.  One last statement Trump is on record as saying,  is that most of his business friends today are Democrats. The same Democrats that have had unchecked power in Congress for the last 4 years are his current set of friends. Democrats took a historic beating in 2010, and now the “New Donald” wants to run for President as a Republican. There can be no solid conservative scoring done on Trump today, simply because he changes his supposed core values almost as much as Charlie Crist does down here in Florida . Trump in 2012? “Are you serious?”

UPDATE: 3/22/2011.  Apparently Donald Trump is quite serious in making a bid for President in 2012. He recently re-energized his *campaign* with a real shocker while taking a hardline stance on a certain issue, yet while  I do not find this issue shocking but more in line with common sense thinking, I do find the neanderthalic rhetoric coming from the uninformed puppets attacking him very entertaining!   Keep in mind that his approval ratings jumped considerably after this video went viral.

Update: On May 16, Donald Trump announced he would not be running for President.

Same Old GOP: $22Billion in Cuts Voted Down

I recieved a very disturbing Email  news bulletin today from The today. Here is the headline  that I find it to be disturbing:

House rejects extra $22 billion in cuts that divided Republicans*

The House rejected a measure cutting an additional $22 billion from the Republican spending bill, as conservatives ran into a wall of opposition from the GOP establishment over the depth of reductions to federal funding.

Lets review our debt numbers today, just in case the Old Guard GOP has forgotten them. The CBO projects our National Deficit to be $1.62 trillion dollars (and counting) this year. That is basically just what our illustrious members of Congress have overspent for this year. Today the House was working on the ( what should be considered illegal ) continuing resolution to run our government for the rest of this year. Yes folks, we once again are running our country without a set budget thanks to our elected representatives of Congress. But isn’t the House supposed to control the purse of the taxpayer, and didn’t the voters fire a record number of members of congress due to these kinds of actions in 2010? Didn’t we elect a record number of Republicans with the promises that they would be cutting spending and reducing our debt? Apparently, this has all been just another con job, and we have seen today that this is nothing more than The Same Old GOP. Just who is behind this refusal to make the serious cuts we have been promised? Further on in The article we see exactly what happened here:

“Authored by RSC chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the proposal would have dramatically reshaped an appropriations bill that already slashes federal spending by $61 billion over the next seven months.”

“More than half of the Republican conference backed the measure in opposition to two party chiefs, Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who voted with every Democrat against it.” (emphasis mine)
“Like no previous proposal, the heated debate over the amendment drew a bright line through the GOP conference, pitting conservatives pushing the deepest spending cuts against senior Republicans who denounced them as “misguided,” “indiscriminate” and, in the case of Rep. Daniel Lungren (R-Calif.), “lazy.”

Political pundits from across the spectrum, and propagandists from the left have been blowing up a supposed rift between the GOP and the new members of the house including the Teaparty for months now, and apparently the Old Guard GOP is dead set on proving them right. I don’t view this as anything less than broken promises and the continuation of the GOP to spend us into economic Armageddon like the last 4 years of Democratic rule have done. Once again. numbers do not lie when presented completely and truthfully. Our total national debt was $8.5 Trillion dollars at the end of 2006. At the end of 4 years of Democratic control of our entire Congress in 2010, the national debt was $13.5 Trillion dollars.** That is an increase of $5 trillion dollars of debt piled onto the backs of every taxpaying U.S. citizen in 4 years. Lets not forget that the big spenders are not done spending in 2011, as we see in the above statements. The CBOprojects another $1.62 Trillion in debt for 2011. $61 billion dollars is a drop in the bucket when we consider how much these mathematically challenged elitists have already spent this year.

So, the current Congress, while staring at $1.62 trillion dollars of debt for this year alone, refused to cut another measly $22 Billion dollars, leaving the cuts to total at $61 Billion in cuts in spending. I must note here that over 1/4 of the fiscal year 2011 is already gone! So yes, we will still have well over $1.5 trillion dollars in new debt this year alone.Same Old GOP. Here is something that needs to be told here also. Kristi Noem (R-SD), the freshman congresswoman who received the backing of the Teaparty to get elected voted against the cuts. She was also given a house leadership position by Speaker Boehner. Same Old GOP. Now we know why the Teaparty folks were concerned that the Old Guard GOP would corrupt their newly elected representatives. It also happened in the first real budget issue that has come before the house. Same Old GOP.

I watched some of the continuing resolution debate in the house today. What I saw was The Same Old GOP, arguing that $22 billion in cuts was too much, would hurt the people, cost us jobs, collapse the economy, on and on with the same old excuses as the Democrats were using, while exhibiting an elitist attitude in refusing to do what we elected them to do. At one point I thought, “I can’t tell the Republicans from the Democrats here.” It sounded like 80% of the house members were Progressives ganging up on the other 20%, who were Conservatives working on restoring some fiscal sanity into America today. Same Old GOP.

2012 will see another historic election, my only question is which type of big spending Progressives will get the most pink slips, the ones with the “D” after their name or the “R”.

Speaker John Boehner: ‘So Be It’

House Speaker John BoehnerProgressives are up-in-arms over the loss of government jobs that will occur due to the kinds of deep budget cuts House Republicans are pushing.  House Speaker John Boehner’s response to them was clear, truthful and responsible

In the last two years, under President Obama, the federal government has added 200,000 new federal jobs. If some of those jobs are lost, so be it. We’re broke.

Liberals are painting the Speaker as a mean-hearted elitist for the most polarizing and honest and succinct part of the entire response – “So be it”.

Speaker Boehner isn’t saying that he doesn’t care if people lose jobs. He’s is telling it like it is. We are out of money and can no longer afford to pay all these people. Companies do it, families do it and finally our government is figuring out that it must also do so.

If a business’ model fails and it is unable to create the revenue needed to pay its bills, lay-offs occur. If a family becomes short of cash, they might stop paying to have the lawn mowed or the car washed. If the government cannot afford the 200,000 people that Obama added to the Federal pay rolls, lay-offs are required – So be it!

Our government has taken on more debt in the last two years than in the entirety of its history – all under one President and a Pelosi/Reid lead Congress. Those irresponsible policies have already cost numerous liberal Congressional members their jobs and Nancy Pelosi the leadership of the house.  Failing to reverse the trend may cost more short-sighted, over spending progressives their seats – so be it!

The government is doing too much and none of it that well. If becoming fiscally responsible with our Federal checking account costs a few union-protected, unnecessary jobs in government organizations that aren’t even Constitutionally provided for – So Be It!

Here are Your Hope N Change Numbers after 2 years: You do the math.

I recently recieved an email today that pretty much sums up our country’s status in one simple chart.
(Special thanks to my brother Bernie for the email)

I am a  firm believer in the saying that numbers do not lie, folks. We are in big trouble here and Obama’s recent fake budget proposal could very well finish off Americas economy. Thus the importance of supporting our representatives in Congress and our State Governors, in their quest to install some fiscal sanity into our country today.

Wisconsin on Fire: Budget Protest Updates

As most of us here in America know, the Wisconsin Unions are protesting Governor Scott Walker’s proposed State budget, in which he is asking for  Union members to contribute more to their own healthcare premiums and pensions. The Union thuggery in conjunction with certain Media members, has some real tall tales being told about the facts here. They are also adding fuel to the fire so to speak, as these false headlines are misinforming people and could end up complicit in causing rioting that could end in violence or even death. Wisconsin is burning right now, and some of these people seem hell bent of stoking the fire.

Lets examine some of the headlines and see just who is stoking this fire. Here is a lovely lie being shouted as a headline  over at The Nation* by one John Nichols, who deems himself  such an important fire stoker, that he even puts his picture above this headline: (link provided below)

Tens of Thousands Protest Move by Wisconsin’s Governor to Destroy Public Sector Unions*

Someone needs to ask this pot stirrer if he understands what may happen when uninformed people take this headline seriously. Destroy public Unions?  How is asking them to contribute 12.4% to their premium State Health Insurance destroying them? They now pay under 5%. The average private sector worker pays well over 20%, so why is this such an outrageous request here? Just because Union bullying, in conjunction with past Democratic cronyism for votes throughout Wisconsin’s history  has let this imbalance get out of control to the point of State insolvency , doesn’t make it right. Destroying Unions?  Governor Walker is also asking Union members to pay half of their pension contributions. This would bring them into the range of the private sector workers. Since when are State Union workers worth so much more than the very people who are paying their salaries? Newsflash: they aren’t as productive, therefore they should be making less in pay and benefits, not more, period. Back to Mr. Nichols here. Destroying Unions? Wisconsin has a 3.6 billion dollar hole in it’s budget, and if it isn’t fixed soon, the whole State will be bankrupt and then workers who have put in 30 years will be left with nothing in the way of pensions. Walker is trying to save the Unions jobs here. If the budget isn’t balanced soon, there will be layoffs. That is the simple reality here, which Mr. Nichols chooses to ignore. When seeing inflammatory headlines based on a flat out lie, we must always question with boldness and consider the source of any information.

Mr. Nichols is a highly paid operative for the Progressive Party and the DNC. Their agendas are as entwined as a rat snake wrapped around a rabbit.

Mr Nichols has also been involved with writing a few books. The titles alone are all-telling: The Genius of Impeachment and The Death and Life of Great American Journalism: The Media Revolution That Will Begin the World Again.  Lots of revolutionary death and anarchy in his headlines and titles there.  This man is some sort of Anarchist looking for the next riot-starter if you look at his prior writing. Here’s a few more facts about Mr. Nichols. He contributes to The Progressive and is a co-founder of the 100% Progressive Free Press.  Under the disguise of Democracy, Mr. Nichols is making a hell of a living pimping the Progressive agenda, while creating false headlines like the one above. The only problem with the title of his “Free Press” is that they sem to think that only people that should be allowed to speak their minds are progressive operatives such as himself. They allow practically zero  “Free Press” when it comes to any opposition speak. They call this type of  people hypocrites where I come from.

The false message and flat out lies about Governor Walker’s budget plan can be seen in many other leftist-Union supporting sites and supposed news articles. The Huffington Post, ( which lapped up  1 million dollars from the king of revolutionary progressivism one Geroge Soros recently)  has an inflammatory headline stating that the Wisconsin Protests are “intensifying.” As Glenn beck has told the world, this is called “nudging” the ignorants towards a quasi-revolt/riot.  The Huffington Post also provides a link to another fear-monger headline based on a lie: ” Rev. Al Sharpton: Labor Movements Under Attack in Madison, Wisconsin – Republican Governor Scott Walker is wasting time attacking working folks instead of seeking honest, sustainable solutions to his budget shortfalls. It is a con game, pure and simple.”     The worst race-baiting con artist to ever walk the earth, and who also has the nerve to call himself “The Great Reverend Al Sharpton”   is now calling Governor Walker a con man. My that’s rich! Notice the use of the word attackthere in his headline. Violence-promoting, irresponsible headlines across the spectrum of the left for all to see.

The picture on the left here shows Governor Walker appearing to ask just what do you people want me to do here?  The Wisconsin State Constitution contains a clause that requires a balanced budget, period. He is trying to obey the law in balancing said budget. In a totally Democratic State that has seen the past Governor and State legislature ignore the rule of law to the point of a 3.6 billion dollar budget shortfall, how is Walker to blame here?  Walker was elected to shore up Wisconsin’s budget shortfall and to  try to install some fiscal sanity into a situation that was  largely caused by            an insane bunch of  Democrats buying votes with taxpayer dollars through Union cronyism for decades. When these Union members say they have a right to these huge benefit packages, in a way they do. Why would i say that? Because these same Unions are political vote buying schemes today, largely for the Democratic Party. For decades, Unions bought elections for Democrats, and the those same Democrats handed Union members the payback of huge pension benefits with very little member contributions. Same thing  with how much they pay for their health insurance.  So for years Unions have been paying for their members bloated benefits through the Democratic Party. Now Union members think they are “owed” these fiscally impossible huge pay and benefit packages. Only one problem. The people paying for all of this insanity are the taxpayers and they spoke up in 2010 and said enough is enough!   In comes a fiscally conservative Republican Governor who actually takes a realistic look at the budget and sees that spending has to be brought under control. Wisconsin votes also had the smarts to elect Republican majorities in the Senate and House. Now, the people in charge don’t “owe” the Unions anything. This is how a true Democracy is supposed to operate. Walker is bound by law to balance the budget, and he is going to do it for all the people of Wisconsin, not just bow to Union thuggery while ignoring the majority of the people.

One last observation here. yesterday. Police were trying to locate the Democrats who by law are required to do their jobs and vote on this budget proposal. It will pass, make no questions about that. Here is what is really all-telling about why I think they ran and hid like children. If I was facing a mob, borderline riot, that was stirred up by Union operatives and paid media cronies to a fever pitch, I wouldn’t want to be one of the few remaining Democrats there, who these Union members feel “owe” them these bloated salaries and benefits plans, when this budget gets passed. Is it any wonder why Wisconsin Democrats cut and run like a bunch of cowards here? Sooner or later the people of  Wisconsin are going to want their voices heard here too. It is just that they have been out working to pay for this circus, aand can’t take days off of work to march on the Capitol. Kind of strange to see teachers who refuse to work, thus causing the schools to close, while at the same time calling themselves dedicated teachers. If you care about the education of the students, you would be in the classroom, not prohibiting your state capitol from functioning as per the rule of law. Do your job Governor Walker, and thank you for serving notice to the rest of the States facing this kind of problems while looking at their own budgets this year.  Someone had to have the courage to take the first step here, and you and the Wisconsin people are owed a debt of gratitude for facing down the harsh realities of the fiscal insanities brought to us by the leftist Unions and their pals, the Liberal Democrats.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin provides us with the shocking complete stats on Union salaries here:

Nelson Wins Tyrant of the Week Award

Senator Bill Nelson (D) of Florida was recognized as  The Tyrant of the Week  yesterday, by weighing in on Governor Scott’s putting the brakes on the high speed rail scheme with the following tyrannical statement:

” We are exploring with the Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, how we could keep this project going forward since the state of Florida will not participate. We have the lawyers researching it,” Nelson told The Palm Beach Post.

Definition of a Tyrant: An absolute ruler, unrestrained by law or constitution. A usurper of  sovereignty. A ruler who exercises absolute power oppressively or brutally. Mr Nelson fits all 3 definitions to a tee here. There is such a thing as a Florida constitution that lays out the duties ands authority of the Florida Governor. In the above statement our Tyrant of the Week, Senator Bill Nelson, somehow thinks he can ignore the governor’s decision and round up a group of lawyers along with transportation secretary RayLaHood to do an “end around” on Governor Scott here.

Lets look at the background to this whole situation here. In 2000, when the economy was rolling along nicely, several groups of city and state politicians started exploring the possibility of a high speed rail system to go from Tampa, to Orlando Florida. That was 11 years ago and the economy has deteriorated drastically since then. They held a vote and the people of Florida approved moving forward with this rail plan in 2000. Fast forward to 2010, during the mid-term elections  the people of Florida, faced with rising taxes and huge State deficits, voted NO to this rail plan. These same people elected Rick Scott to lead Florida out of the recession as their Governor. Mr. Scott looks over all the bloated revenue projections and possible costs to the Florida tax payers while going over the state budget plan, and decides that this is a disaster waiting to happen. Mr. Scott then announces that the high speed rail plan will be stopped.  Enter Senator Bill Nelson, my Tyrant of the Week with the above statement. The people said no, the Governor says no, yet the Tyrant says he will do it anyway, the rule of law be damned!

Today Florida has a $3.6 Billion dollar deficit. This isn’t free money from the feds here, if the plan fails Florida taxpayers are on the hook to pay back 3.2 billion dollars. I live near Tampa. I worked in Orlando and traveled between the cities for years. Those saying this rail plan will increase tourism are living in a world of fantasy. Gov. Scott asked if these funds could be used to widen the I-4 corridor between Tampa and Orlando, since congestion is one of the reasons they use when pushing for this plan. The Feds said NO. Why do you think that happened? Another fact is that every rail system in North America operates at a huge loss to the taxpayers. Look at Amtrak for an obvious example. The Washington Times* shows us just what happens when the Federal government gets into the train business.

“What authorities ultimately unraveled was that two former Amtrak officials, in fiscal 2001, either booked false or incorrect accounting entries in Amtrak’s monthly financial statements or else failed to report the activities. In turn, these same misleading accounting entries helped make Amtrak’s monthly financial results appear closer to budget than they really were. What’s more, the “inappropriate entries” were being made when Amtrak was sending monthly and quarterly financial reports to its own board of directors, the Department of Transportation, the Federal Railroad Administration and others, records show.” (emphasis mine)

Former congressman Ray LaHood, now the Secretary of Transportation, was also caught securing 60 million tax dollars in earmarks for his district in 2008, with 9 million of that going to campaign donors, as was reported in The Washington Post. Now he is wheeling and dealing in Amtrak. Amtrak received 1.2 billion tax dollars in 2005.  Amtrak  had also submitted a request to congress for an addition 1 billion in funding annually for the next 10 years at one point. Can you say money pit? So now we hear that the Transportation Department, along with our Tyrant of the Week, Senator Bill Nelson are going to illegally bypass the people of Florida and their elected Governor, and shove this high speed rail boondoggle down out throats anyway. That is the action of a tyrant, not a U.S Senator elected to serve the people.

Here we see The Tyrant of the Week with our new freshman Senator Marco Rubio. This represents the past, as Nelson is up for reelection in 2012, and the future of Florida, in Marco Rubio. Look at that picture. The Tyrant’s sunken eyes, bulging neck vessels, red face and clenched jaw are the exact opposite of Marco Rubio’s calm attentive demeanor. A tyrant is also someone who runs and hides from the very people he was elected to serve. Soon to be ex-Senator, Mr. Nelson excels at this part too.   I have on record over 50 phone calls and many, many emails and letters sent to the Tyrant of the Week without receiving one reply. That right there says all there is to say, about the fact that this Tyrant needs to be fired next year. He could care less what the people want, and refuses to listen to them.  When researching  the Florida high speed rail plan, there is also a quickly seen pattern within the reporting on this issue. The first 47 out of 50 Internet searches were all bashing Rick Scott with lies and misinformation about this situation. The real reasons Gov. Scott stated for his stopping this boondoggle are very rarely reported. The true costs to the taxpayers of Florida are ignored. History proves these projects to never come in under budget, and have proven to lose money for decades, yet the crony-capitalists in bed with the politicians pushing this burden onto the people of Florida are controlling the message. That message is deep in misinformation and based in unrealistic revenue projections. Leading that pack of  liars is our very own Tyrant of the Week, Senator Bill Nelson. My hope and change for 2012 starts with getting this Tyrant out of office,  and electing a true representative of the people. That’s what I call “Winning the Future.”

President Obama, Why aren’t we..

Oratory, promises, statements, pleas for acceptance.  Obama has worn his heart on his sleeve, much like the liberals that slaughter the rear-end of their automobiles with stickers to espouse their love for the killing of the unborn, the forcing of the will of the government on us all and whatever new oppressive piece of false-front selfishness shows up on the Huffington Post or Daily KOS.

In re-reading Obama’s innaguration speech, I find many statements about the things Mr. Obama thought we must do and I ask, if we should have been doing these things since January of ’09, why aren’t we?

“We come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises”, Obama says. His administration has expended great amounts of energy airing its grievances against the Chamber of Commerce, the wealthy, corporations, the Tea Party, Conservatives.. seriously, petty?  We heard that the stimulus would prevent unemployment above 8%, that we wouldn’t have lobbyists in the administration, that an open hand would positively affect our international relations with the likes of Iran and North Korea; that we would have a less-partisan Washington, well.. why don’t we?

“We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age”.  The odd thing on greenish stuff is that it’s not the GOP slowing Obama down, it’s his own party.  Eco-freaks are filing expensive law suits to prevent the building of wind and solar farms.  If wind is so great, why are progressives fighting it? If GM’s Volt is the answer to our foreign oil dependence, why isn’t anyone buying them? If we are supposed to be building up a successful economic sector around green jobs – why aren’t we?

“The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small..” Obama got this one right – this isn’t a question, we know the answer – it’s too big and getting bigger. Obama’s new budget will increase the national debt by $7.2 TRILLION over the next decade. Obama even made a campaign promise to cut the deficit in half within his first term. Well, Mr President, why aren’t you?

“And those of us who manage the public’s dollars will be held to account, to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day..” Just pointing out all the falsehoods here would take a book.. dems fighting the Senators that want to fight raising the debt ceiling, the lack of transparency (no posting bills online, backroom meetings without C-SPAN, recess appointments for critical administartion officials .. one could go on) – If we were to spend wisely and do our business in the light of day- why aren’t we?

“..and so, to all other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity” – unless you were Egyptian in the early days of the January 25th revolution or of course, Israeli.

“We will not apologize for our way of life nor will we waver in its defense..” – Obama, you’ve apologized for everything under the sun, including STDs in Guatamala .. 70 years ago.  As far as defense, isn’t the Commander-in-Chief (a term I use lightly) more concerned with the potlical perspective of what happens in Afghanistan than completing the mission? How long did the Afghanistan surge approval take for Obama to give once the generals had recommended it?

“To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history” of course, unless you are a Democrat. Anyone remember the Black Panther DOJ mess?  Yeah, the White house surely doesn’t want to. Obama’s infamous line, “let me be clear..” is often followed by some cocky slight of Conservative values and supported by policies like Net Neutrality and the Fairness Doctrine that seek to quiet those who disagree with the progressive agenda.

Obama also said: “The challenges we face are real.. They will be met”, although Obama has said that he feels that 70% of his objectives have been met .. the rest of the American population is left feeling that we aren’t meeting any challenges and are wincing at the thought of what the remaining 30% will do to the country.

I’ll leave you with a quote from George Washington:

“Let it be told to the future world that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive, that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet it.”

This one – great American Conservatives are taking care for you – well not really for you.

Bring on 2012.

Florida’s Rick Scott Pulls The Plug On High Speed Rail.

Florida’s new Governor, Rick Scott turned down the Feds offer of  $432 million of Obama’s “winning the future” stimulus funds this week, as announced during the unveiling of his state budget proposal. Governor referred to the project as a recipe for disaster, while facing down the Obama administration as being “addicted to spending.” Florida has followed Wisconsin and Ohio Republican Governors in refusing to accept federal funds that would lead to bloated, expensive additions to deficits that are already at historic highs. Governor Scott was elected to get spending under control, and he appears determined to do just that, with the help of a Republican majority in the Florida House and Senate. That luxury also leaves Scott without any wiggle room, or excuses for not making the cuts necessary to repair Florida’s sluggish economy. His common sense approach is quite refreshing in his latest statements on the cancellation of the high speed rail project.

“I was elected to get Floridians back to work and to change the way government does business in our state.” And Governor Scott explained exactly why he turned down the federal funds; “Capital cost overruns that could put Florida taxpayers on the hook for an additional $3 billion,” “overly optimistic” ridership and revenue projections, and $2.4 billion owed to the feds if the project “becomes too costly for taxpayers and is shut down.”

There is that same catch that caused Governor Christie to stop the New Jersey to New York high speed rail project.  The truth is that they failed to do any true Life-Cycle budget and revenue projections for proper cost analysis. Add to that the fact that when it becomes proven to be too expensive to complete, the taxpayers would still be on the hook for $2.4 Billion dollars and this truly had all the makings of a disaster!  Thank you Governor Scott, I sure am glad I voted for you, instead of high-speed-rail-at-any-cost, Democrat  Alex Sink!

Governor Scott is a realist when it comes to Florida’s revenue, and also sums up a fact that the federal Government needs to be reminded of when he said, “Government has no resources of its own. Government can only give to us what it has previously taken from us… Higher taxes and more government spending is a recipe for disaster. Government has become addicted to spending beyond its means and we cannot continue this flawed policy.”  The fact that this was still being pushed onto the backs of Floridians, even though we voted down a tax to help pay for this project just last year, is very indicative on just how out of touch our Governments have become today. What part of  “No high-speed rail”  do you people not understand? Apparently, we still have some further house-cleaning to do in our State legislature in 2012. Those names will be duly noted and published, as we get closer to the 2012 elections. We the people of Florida, and across America are tired of being ignored, and being told that career politicians know better than we do on how to spend OUR tax dollars.

Florida’s Freshman Congressman Allen West’s Profile: Will not run for POTUS/VP in 2012

Allen West was born in Atlanta, Georgia on Feb. 7th, 1961. He is the first African-American Republican Congressman from Florida since Josiah Wells was elected 135 years ago, in 1876. He comes from a family of career military disciplinarians, with his father and brother serving in the military, and his mother working as a civilian employee of the U.S Marine Corps. West enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1983, after graduating from the University of Tennessee. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from UT, and also holds a masters degree from the University of Kansas State in political science. He received a masters degree in military arts and sciences from the U.S Army Command and General Staff Officer college.  This is a very intelligent man who succeeded at very high levels of  leadership positions within the U.S military. He has also proven himself to be a good strong leader in a combat, which says a lot about his character.

Military career and controversy. (Now) Lieutenant West entered the Army on Nov. 1st, 1983 and served a total of  almost 22 years of service in the U.S Army. His career is marked by a constant perseverance to excel, as is shown by his rapid advancement through the ranks. Neither his complete dedication, nor devout Patriotism to this country should ever be called into question. This man is a proven protector of American freedom, who has put his life on the line to prove it, time, and time again.  While fighting in Taji, Iraq in 2003, a controversy occurred while West was interrogating a  civilian Iraqi police officer whom West had been told had information about attacks on American troops in the area. During this interrogation LTC West was asked to assist in trying to obtain information that the others present felt that the prisoner was withholding. LTC West was accused of firing his pistol past the prisoner’s head while trying to make him give up more information.

Yes, the big controversy was about LTC West, an American troop commander at the time, “frightening” an Iraqi in trying to obtain information from him to protect his own men. In the events that followed, LTC West, an American soldier fighting in the pits of hell for this country, was found to have violated articles 128 and 134 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice for “frightening” an Iraqi. This type of political correctness results in the inability to defeat the enemy and ever pull our troops out of Afghanistan and yes Iraq too. It will also have a negative effect on future recruiting when potential soldiers learn of this situation. LTC West is a true American hero and the shame lies on the faces of the politically correct military leaders who let this travesty put a black mark on LTC West’s stellar and dedicated career.

During his hearing, LTC West was asked by his lawyer if he would fire his pistol again under similar circumstances. His response to that question is all we need to know about this incident; “If it’s about the lives of my men and their safety, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can.” This shows nothing but  pure dedication to his men and our country, no matter how politically correct military leaders tried to spin it into something else. In support of that last statement, a letter supporting LTC West was signed by 95 members of Congress and sent to the Secretary of the Army. My only question there, is if the Secretary of the Army ever grow a pair, and take this undeserved black mark off of LTC West’s military record, or will they continue to play footsies with the Taliban and Al Qaeda while American troops die?  This situation was the direct result of the newer politically correct rules of engagement that our politically entrenched military rulers have handed down in recent years. General Patton must be rolling over in his grave about this nonsense.

Career after military service. LTC West ran for Congress in 2007,  losing to incumbent Ron Klein by 9% of the vote. Not to be deterred, West spoke at the CPAC in 2010 and caught the attention of Sarah Palin and the new Teaparty grassroots movement sweeping across the nation. With his denouncement of the Left falsely claiming anyone  is racist who opposed Obama and the Democrats , his stellar military career, and his Patriotic views on what needs to be done to restore America, LTC Allen West trounced Ron Klein by the same 9% that he had lost by in the prior election. Oh and if you didn’t notice, Allen West is also of African American heritage. He just doesn’t run around the country announcing this in a veiled attempt to cajole the vote from one race of people or the other . This is a man who was elected on pure American values and the unconditional love for his country he exhibits, period. Leave the race-based vote-begging charades of the left to the Democrats, where it is has been for the last 100 years or so.

Official announcement on 2012 Presidential Aspirations of Congressman West. In a telephone interview with West’s Chief Communications Director, Angela Sachitano stated today that, while Congressman West is honored and humbled by the people mentioning his name as a possible Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate in 2012, Congressman West will not be running for either of those positions. He feels he has a job to do as a new freshman Congressman in learning the ways of our political system and becoming an effective representative that can help ensure the preservation of American freedoms and true American values that have made America the greatest nation on earth.

Congressman West is a realist at his core and understands he lacks the political experience to even consider a run for President of the United States in 2012. His realistic and humble approach towards the future is a very refreshing ideology when we look at the state of American politics today. With this freshman Congressman’s propensity for earning fast promotions, his constantly proving to be a very effective leader in our military, coupled with the displine and drive to succeed in restoring America towards becoming a country with a government of the people, by the people and for the people, we can rest assured that Congressman West will become a steady leader in Congress for years to come.   We very well could be talking about President Allen West one day in the very near future,  but it just won’t be in 2012.
